Well, everyone seems to be familiar with the word.
When you listen to it, it sounds like several images drawn by hand or captured on camera, arranged one after another.
On May 10, I also went to the exhibition.
But it’s not a traditional gallery of hand-drawn or camera-captured images. The images in this gallery are different. Books for the first stage of language learning are called “introductory.” The Bengali primer class was started in the year 1816. The name of this gallery is “Primer to Press,” and it was started by the artist Sabyasachi Hazra. The exhibition included the covers, supply chain management masters rankings, inside-page photographs of eight introductory books published between 1849 and 1948, and information about the authors.
Furthermore,
different devices were used in printing in the past, such as small and large letters engraved on wood or iron, different letters engraved on blocks, writings, and images that were printed with ink. The biggest surprise was the printing press used at that time. In this gallery, I also got an idea of the previous primers and printed them. The initial books were ‘Education of the Child’ by Madanmohan Tarklankar, ‘Varna Prachaya’ by Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, ‘Baliasiksha’ by Ramsundar Basak, ‘Adarsh Lipi’ by Sitanath Basak, ‘Hasikoshi’ by Yogendranath Sarkar, ‘Chitrakshar’ by Abanindranath Tagore and “The Sahaja Path” by Rabindranath Tagore.
And “Hatekhari” was directed by Bimalchandra Ghosh.
Ethnic identity and linguistic change are developed differently in each manual. Some books only write letters. Some books contain several rhymes, poems, and couplets in addition to lyrics. Some books also have color recognition through images. In all the books, the authors and illustrators have beautifully explained color identity for the benefit of children. Some blocks have small, fine writing. Some blocks are larger. Some blocks are made of wood, top mis programs in the world, and others are made of metal.
Furthermore, different machine sizes were used in printing.
But the printing machine used in ancient times was the most amazing. The device has two large wheels on both sides. There is also a round bottom where the ink is. There are also some levers on the device. Artist Sabyasachi Hazra has also published a beautiful collection of books titled ‘Varnamala’ that combines the prefixes mentioned in this exhibition

The exhibition gave me an idea about the history of preprints and Bengali printing. Seeing such a printing press working before my eyes for the first time was a new and unique experience for me. Overall, I really enjoyed the exhibition. We hope to see more such works from the artist.
